Wild-Caught Texas Gulf White Shrimp
Domestic, all-natural Texas Gulf White shrimp, wild-caught from the warm Gulf waters off the Texas coast. They have a delicate, sweet flavor and a firm, meaty bite, and they come in three generous sizes: Mega Monsters (U/12, twelve or fewer per pound), Big Mommas (10 to 15 per pound), and Jumbo (16 to 20 per pound).
Wild-Caught and Hand-Graded.
These shrimp are wild-caught from the Gulf, then bought right off the dock, sorted, and hand-graded by size. Any imperfect shrimp are rejected, so what reaches your door is only the best of the catch.
All-Natural, No Chemicals or Preservatives.
Our Gulf Whites carry no moisture-retention chemicals and no preservatives. That means no Sodium Tripolyphosphate (STPP), the additive that holds extra water to make shrimp look bigger than they really are and leaves a soft, mushy bite. It also means no sulfites, the preservative many processors brine shrimp in on the boat. We use neither, which is a rarity in an industry where most big-box and grocery-store shrimp rely on them.
Firm, Meaty Texture.
Because there are no water-holding chemicals, you get the true firm, meaty texture of real shrimp instead of a watery, mushy bite. Every pound is shrimp, not added moisture.
Flash-Frozen and Individually Quick Frozen.
Our shrimp are flash-frozen and IQF (individually quick frozen). A lot of frozen shrimp arrives in five-pound blocks that are thawed, or "slacked out," and re-portioned into one-pound packs to sell. Because ours are individually quick frozen, you can buy any quantity, use the exact amount you want each time with no waste, and never wonder whether your shrimp was thawed from a block and refrozen.

We source our shrimp from one of the premier shrimp processors in the country, a first-class operation whose facility and quality control we have personally visited and vetted. The shrimp are never thawed between the catch and your door: they leave the processor frozen, arrive at The Crab Place frozen, and ship to you frozen. We also run our own quality inspection on every shipment we receive.
