Snow Crab Claw Cocktail (Canadian Opilio)

These are the individual claws from Canadian Opilio snow crab, separated, fully cooked, and frozen so they are ready to thaw and serve. They come as a 1 lb pack of about 10 claws or a 3 lb pack of about 30 claws, large and meaty with none of the work of cracking apart full clusters.

Our snow crab is wild-caught in the cold North Atlantic off Atlantic Canada. Snow crab grows slowly in those northern waters, which gives it that naturally sweet, delicate, firm meat. We source from experienced Canadian snow crab processors with a long history in the fishery, and we focus on consistent quality rather than the cheapest product. Made with snow crab and salt.

Also provides vitamin C (6% DV), calcium (6% DV), and iron (2% DV), and is rich in B12 and a good source of selenium, zinc, and phosphorus. A lean, high-protein, zero-carb seafood choice. The sodium runs a bit high, so keep that in mind.

These claws are fully cooked, so there is no cooking required, just thaw and serve.

Serve chilled (best): thaw overnight in the refrigerator, then serve cold with cocktail sauce, lemon wedges, mustard sauce, or drawn butter.

To serve warm: thaw completely, steam 3 to 5 minutes, and serve right away.

Do not boil for a long time, microwave excessively, or otherwise overcook them. Overheating dries the meat and reduces the sweetness.

For serving sizes, plan on 4 to 6 claws per person as an appetizer, 3 to 5 per person on a seafood platter, or 8 to 12 per person as a main entree. The 1 lb pack suits small gatherings and personal use, and the 3 lb pack is built for entertaining and platters.

Keep frozen at 0°F or below until you are ready to use them. After thawing, refrigerate right away and use within 2 to 3 days for the best flavor and texture. Do not repeatedly thaw and refreeze.
