Shipping live crabs comes with some additional risk to you, the customer. Please read below and check the box to accept the terms and conditions for purchasing live crabs.
Live crabs can only be shipped overnight and are intended to be cooked on the day of arrival. Please do not try to store the crabs for an additional day in refrigeration (and definitely do not store in water!). We do our very best to fulfill live crab orders with the feistiest, liveliest crabs available. We will only ship the same days' catch and will also try to include some extra crabs to help compensate for normal death loss (up to 15% loss). If you receive a shipment with an extreme mortality rate (higher than 15%), then please count the total number of dead AND live crabs in your shipment and contact us within 24 hours, by either phone or email, so that we can accurately assess the amount of loss.
In the case of a high mortality rate (higher than 15%), we may issue you a store credit for the unexpected loss portion to be included in your NEXT order. Furthermore, we would insist that the store credit be changed from live crabs to steamed crabs to avoid having the issue occur again on the next order. If a store credit is issued, the credit may not be used for a different product. We will NOT simply reship you more crabs and/or credit your credit card if you experience extreme mortality loss.
If you do not want to assume any of the risk/responsibility of shipping live crabs, then please let us steam the crabs for you before shipping so that there is no risk of mortality during transit. Thank you!
