This is an easy crab cake recipe that will work great with snow crab, king crab, Jonah crab meat and even chopped up shrimp. It has a very delicate flavor and perfect tucked into a sandwich or served all by itself with tartar sauce for dipping.

Want to kick it up a notch? Below are other fun combinations that absolutely must be tried! Feel free to adjust the seasoning and ingredients according to your taste preferences. These crab cakes are perfect for any occasion and are sure to be a hit with seafood lovers! This recipe takes 10 minute of prep and 10 minutes of cooking.

Directions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked snow crab meat, panko, tartar sauce, beaten egg, chopped dill or parsley, Dijon mustard, lemon zest, Old Bay seasoning, salt and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
  2. Form the crab mixture into small patties, about 2-3 inches in diameter, and place them on a plate or baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  3. Heat the avocado oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  4. Once the oil is hot, carefully place the crab cakes in the skillet, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Cook in batches if necessary.
  5. Cook the crab cakes for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
  6. Once cooked, transfer the crab cakes to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
  7. Serve the Snow Crab Crab Cakes hot with your favorite dipping sauce or accompaniments, such as lemon wedges or tartar sauce.

Here are some fun ingredients you can try incorporating into your Snow Crab Crab Cakes recipe to add a unique twist:

  • Corn: Add a pop of sweetness and texture by mixing in some fresh or grilled corn kernels.
  • Bell Peppers: Finely diced bell peppers, whether red, yellow, or green, can bring a colorful and flavorful addition to your crab cakes.
  • Green Onions: Chopped green onions add a subtle onion flavor and a vibrant green color to your crab cakes.
  • Jalapeños: For a hint of heat, finely chop some jalapeño peppers and mix them into the crab cake mixture.
  • Cheese: Consider adding grated Parmesan, cheddar, or pepper jack cheese for extra richness and depth of flavor.
  • Bacon: Crumbled cooked bacon can provide a smoky flavor and crispy texture to your crab cakes.
  • Avocado: Serve your crab cakes with slices of creamy avocado or incorporate mashed avocado into the crab cake mixture for added richness.
  • Mango: Dice some ripe mango and mix it into the crab cake mixture for a sweet and tangy flavor contrast.
  • Cilantro: Chopped fresh cilantro can add a bright and herbaceous note to your crab cakes.
  • Hot Sauce: For an extra kick of flavor, add a dash of your favorite hot sauce to the crab cake mixture.
