Crabs are graded by size, relative to points across the backs of their shells. Selects measure between 5 and 5 ¾ inches across, with approx. 6 dozen crabs per bushel. Premiums measure 5 ¾ to 6 ½ inches, with approx. 5 dozen per bushel. Colossal crabs measure over 6 ½ inches from point to point, and are only sold in dozen quantities. Jumbo female crabs measure 5 ¼ to 6 inches across, with approx. 6 dozen crabs per bushel. Mixed female crabs are not graded by size, with approx. 7 dozen per bushel.
